HC order to remain all schools closed in Ramadan upheld

The Chamber Judge of Appellate Division has upheld the High Court order to remain all primary and secondary schools closed during the month of Ramadan.

The court will hear the appeal petition tomorrow (Tuesday).

Justice of Chamber Judge M Enayetur Rahim passed the order on Monday.

Earlier on Sunday, the High Court (HC) ordered the closure of all primary and secondary schools during Ramadan. 

The HC bench comprising of Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order after the hearing on Sunday (March 10). 

Advocate Mahmuda Khanam moved for the petitioner while deputy attorney general Sheikh Md Saifuzzaman stood for the state. 
On February 8, the education ministry decided to keep secondary school open for the first 15 days of Ramadan. 

Later, on February 25, Supreme Court lawyer Md Elias Ali Mondal filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the legality of the government's decision to keep schools open.
