Actress Anjana laid to eternal rest

National film award-winning actress Anjana has been laid to eternal rest.
She was buried at around 3.15pm on Saturday at the Bananni Graveyard in the city.
Her first namaz-e-janaza was held on the FDC premises after Juhr prayer.
Film workers, including her colleagues, came to FDC to pay their last respects to Anjana.
Various organizations including the Bangladesh Cholochitra Sangbadik Samity, film producers association, directors association, artistes association and others paid their last respects to Anjana.
She passed away on Friday (January 3) night.
On December 24, Anjana was admitted to a private hospital in the capital after falling ill. She was kept at the ICU for a few days. She was later transferred to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on the night of January 1 as her condition showed no significant improvement.
Due to further deterioration in her health, she was put on life support that night but passed away later.
Born on June 27, 1965, in Dhaka, Anjana was celebrated as one of the country’s finest actresses, particularly for her dancing skills. Throughout her career, she acted in more than 300 movies during her illustrious career and also worked in films across 13 languages in 9 different countries.
Anjana began her acting career in 1976, debuting in the film ‘Setu’, directed by Babul Chowdhury. However, her first released film in the same year was ‘Dossu Bonhur’, in which she starred alongside Sohail Rana.
Some of her notable films include ‘Matir Maya’, directed by Khan Ataur Rahman, ‘Ashikkhito’ by Azizur Rahman, ‘Chokher Moni’ and ‘Sukher Songshar’ by Narayan Ghosh Mita, ‘Jinjir, Onshidar’, and ‘Anarkali’ by Dilip Biswas, ‘Bicharpoti’ by Gazi Mazharul Anwar, ‘Aladdin Alibaba Sindbad’ by Shafi Vikrompuri, ‘Abhijan’ by Nayokraj Razzak, ‘Mohan’ and ‘Rajar Raja’ by Alamgir Kumkum, ‘Bishforon’ by FI Manik, ‘Phuleshwari’ by Azizur Rahman, ‘Ram Rahim Jon’ by Satyasaha, ‘Nagina’ by Matiur Rahman Badal, and ‘Porinita’ by Alamgir Kabir.
Anjana received the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performances in Parineeta and Gangchill.
