Salman`s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo makes Rs 71cr in 2 days

Risingbd Desk: With Prem Ratan, Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya dhan payo. The film is turning out to be a crore-spinner, having already earned Rs 71 crore in 2 days and becoming the biggest first-day opener of this year.

The fact that the weekend is still to go and eager fans are lining up to buy tickets should make all attached to the film really happy.

After the success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan which made over Rs 300 crore at box office in India, Salman Khan is on his way to deliver another bumper hit with this sanskaari film.

Released a day after Diwali, the film managed to mint over Rs 40 crore with its Hindi version on its first day in India. While the figures saw a 23% drop on Friday, it still managed a more than respectable Rs 31 crore.

According to trade experts, the film is likely to cross Rs 100 crore barrier on Saturday.

The film’s performance has been described as “outstanding” and “phenomenal” by trade experts. The figures of the film’s Tamil and Telugu version are yet to be compiled. It has done well internationally also, having grossed $1.6 million in the international market.

The family drama, which reunites Salman with his Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Hum Saath Saath Hai director Sooraj Barjatya after 16 years, has majorly appealed to family audiences, said the film’s spokesperson.

Made on a budget of Rs 60 crore with Rs 20 crore spent on publicity and advertising -- Barjatya’s costliest ever film -- Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has already recovered a sum of Rs.57 crore from satellite and music rights. Having released in 4,500 screens in India and in 1,100 screens in traditional international markets, the movie is well on its way to be a success.
