Entertainment Desk: Celebrated film actress Parvin Sultana Diti has been buried by the grave of her father in their family graveyard in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district on Monday afternoon.  

The third Namaz-e-Janaza of her was held at Duttapara village of the upazila.

Earlier, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, actors and actresses including Alamgir, Rubel, Omar Sani, Champa, Khaleda Akhter Kolpona,  Nasrin, Dilara Yasmin, Rasheda Chowdhury, Kabila, Helal Khan, Ahmed Sharif, Miju Ahmed, producers and directors paid respects to the late actress at BFDC.

The deceased’s son Safayat Hossain Dipta Chowdhury said that her mother has been buried by the grave of her father following her wishes.

Celebrated Bangladeshi actress Parvin Sultana Diti died on Sunday after a long battle with brain cancer.

Diti breathed her last at United Hospital in Dhaka at about 4:05pm on Sunday.   

The popular film actress of the 90’s was admitted to the United Hospital on 8 January upon her return from India.

She was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent a surgery at Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Chennai, India on 29 July last year.

On her return after the operation, Diti again fell ill in November and went under another operation in India.

As there was no sign of improvement in her condition, she was brought back home in January last and admitted to United Hospital.

Diti was married to film actor Sohel Chowdhury who had died in 1998.

Diti won the Bangladesh National Film Award as the best actress in a supporting role in 1987 for her performance in ‘Shami Stri’.
