Singer Asif gets back to business

DHAKA, July 31: Putting an end to a long hiatus, renowned singer Asif Akbar has staged a stylish comeback to music arena through his Eid album titled ‘Ex Prem.`

Asif released the album with a gala album launching ceremony at Moon Complex of Patuatuli in the city on Tuesday.

Singer Asif Akbar, Vice President of MIB Anwar Hossain, General Secretary of CMV Sheikh Shahed Ali Pappu, Joint Secretary of CD Choice Jahirul Haque Shohel, Kochi Ahmed of Eagle Music, Kayum Khan of Suranjali and Abdullah Bulu of CD Zone attended the ceremony, among others.

The album featured a total of 14 numbers- ‘Chandboti’, ‘Boka Premik’, ‘Protishodh’, ‘Mon Ferano Gelona’, ‘Kar Preme Porbo’, ‘Ex Prem’, ‘Rangtuli’, ‘Shuno Kono Ekdin’, ‘Ki Chai Tumar, ‘Shada Kalo Prem, ‘Anya Jubak’, ‘Nei Bebdhan, ‘Pichhutan’ and ‘Shokha’.

Renowned singers Shahidullah Faraizi, Pradip Saha, Rajib Ahmed and Hasan Jan are the lyrists of the album while Altaf Siddiqui, Monowar Hossain Tutul, Baul Latif Shah, Nazir Mahmud, Zahid Bashar Pankaj and Rajesh are the tuners of its numbers.

Asif said, “I have tried my best to present listeners a good album and I have been worked for a long for collecting the best songs for It.”

“I hope the listeners from all walks of life will enjoy the numbers of the album,” he added.

Singer Asif Akbar was born to Ali Akbar and Rokeya Akbar in Comilla on March 25 in 1972. He released his debut album titled ‘O Priya Tumi Kothay’ in 2001.

The album was a great hit and acquired a lot of popularity for him at home and abroad with its hit song ‘Oh Priya Tumi Kothay’.

A total of 29 solo albums of the singer have so far been released across the country in a short span of his career. He also played a number of duets with renowned singers Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kumar Sanu, Bappa Mazumdar, Dolly Shayontoni, Suzana Ansar Sonia, Kaniz Suborna, Munni and Monir Khan.

The last solo album of the singer titled ‘Shei Dingulu Koi’ in 2009. Though Asif retired from commercial singing on March 17 in 2010, he has staged a stylish comeback to music arena through his Eid album.

The album produced by MIB is being distributed by a total of 18 distributing organisations across the country.
