Actor Amjad Hossain laid to rest

Jamalpur Correspondent: Eminent filmmaker Amjad Hossain was laid to eternal rest beside his parents at the central graveyard in his hometown Jamalpur Sunday.
Earlier, his body was also taken to the Jamalpur High School field around 11:30am where hundreds of people from all walks of life paid their last tribute to the renowned film director.
The ‘Golapi Ekhon Train-e’ famed director breathed his last at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok on the evening of Dec 14.
The body was flown to Dhaka on Friday.
Amjad Hossain stepped into the film industry as an actor in ‘Harano Din’ in 1961. Later, he paid focus on writing scripts and directing films. He made debut as film director through ‘Agun Niye Khela’ in 1967. Later, he achieved praises for his films- Nayanmoni (1976), Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978) and Bhat De (1984).
He achieved Bangladesh National Film Award for Nayanmoni for the first time in 1976. Since, Golapi Ekhon Traine, Sundori, Bhat De and Joyjatra brought Bangladesh National Film Award to him gradually.
