Sohel Chowdhury murder: Testimoney recording begins

The formal trial of the sensational murder case of famous film actor of the 90’s Sohel Chowdhury has begun with the recording of witnesses.

Judge Md Zakir Hossain of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-2 of Dhaka on Sunday (August 28) recorded the testimony of Towhidul Islam Chowdhury, brother of the victim and complainant of the case.

The tribunal’s additional public prosecutor Sadia Afrin Shilpi said after 24 years, the formal trial of the case has been started. Let’s see what next.

The accused in the case Aziz Mohammad Bhai alias Abdul Aziz, Tramps Club owner Afakul Islam alias Banti Islam, Selim Khan, Sanjidul Islam Imon, Ashis Roy Alias Botol Chowdhury, Tarik Sayeed Mamun, Harun-or-Rashid alias Leather Liton alias Boss Liton, Adnan Siddique and Faruk Abbasi.

On December 19, 1998, actor Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead outside the now-defunct Tramps Club, housed in Abedin Tower in Banani’s Road 17.

Later, a murder case was filed with Gulshan police followed by a complaint lodged by Sohel’s brother Towhidul Islam Chowdhury.
