One arrested over Salman Khan death threat

The Mumbai police, in a joint operation with Rajasthan police, on Sunday arrested a youth from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, who allegedly sent an email to actor Salman Khan threatening to kill him.

According to the police, on Sunday, Bandra police station’s assistant sub-inspector Bajrang Jagtap and team, in a joint operation, with Jodhpur police, detained the accused identified as Dhakadram Bishnoi, 21, a resident of Jodhpur. The Mumbai police have left with the accused and will arrive in Mumbai to carry out further investigation.

The Mumbai police had booked gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar for allegedly issuing threats to Bollywood star Salman Khan, after the actor’s office received a threat through email on March 18. The police had increased the actor’s security after the threat.

The Mumbai police began an investigation and found that the email was sent from Jodhpur in Rajasthan and forwarded the information to Jodhpur police. After zeroing in on his location, a joint operation was carried out in Luni, and Bishnoi was arrested, said the officials.

“The operation of arresting the accused was successfully done by the Bandra police, along with the Jodhpur police that helped and assisted our team, as per the legal procedural requirement. The accused is on the way with our team back to Mumbai and the further probe will be carried out,” said zonal Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anil Parsakar.

On March 18, a complaint was registered by the actor’s manager and friend, Prashant Gunjalkar at Bandra police station claiming that the threat email refers to a recent interview that Bishnoi gave from Tihar jail, where he mentioned that he wanted to end the actor’s life.

The email said that Goldy Brar wants to speak with Salman Khan and they hope that Khan has watched Bishoni’s interview regarding the threat in which he said that killing Khan was the goal of his life. He had said that the entire situation could be resolved if the actor apologised to the Bishnoi community in their temple in Rajasthan for killing a blackbuck.
