Administering of Covid-19 booster dose starts officially

After conducting a trial run for eighth days, official administering of Covid-19 booster dose starts today.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the administering of the Covid-19 booster dose has officially begun at several hospitals across the country including the capital Dhaka.

Dr Shamsul Haque, director of the vaccination program of the Health Department, confirmed the news on Tuesday (December 28).

“Initially, frontliners and people aged 60 and over will received the booster dose. The authorities have already completed upgrading online platform, Surokkha, which is now open for booster shot registration. People eligible for booster dose will have to access the online platform using their vaccination card information and will find a new option for the booster dose. They have to update that and wait for the SMS to get an appointment,” Dr Shamsul Haque said.

Doctors, nurses, government officials, media persons and elderly citizens would be given priority for the booster dose, according to the DGHS.

Besides, authorities will send an SMS for booster dose from the centre people have received the both doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
