36 killed as bus plunges into gorge in Kashmir

At least 36 people were killed and 19 others injured after the bus they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into a 300-foot gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday (November 15).
The bus carrying around 55 passengers skidded off the road near Trungal-Assar on the Batote-Kishtwar national highway, Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar said.
Union minister Jitendra Singh has officially confirmed in a post on X that 36 individuals have lost their lives in the incident.
Additionally, he reported that among those injured, six people are currently in critical condition.
“Saddened to share the update from DC Doda Sh Harvinder Singh from the spot of the accident. Unfortunately, 36 persons have died and 19 injured, out of whom 6 injured are serious,” Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said.
He added that the injured are being shifted to government-run hospitals in Doda and Kishtwar.
Dr Singh also said a helicopter service was being arranged to airlift the injured.
