Cargo vessel with 15 Indian crew hijacked near Somalia`s coast

A Liberian-flagged vessel with at least 15 Indian crew members on board was hijacked near Somalia's coast, military officials said on Friday.

Indian Navy is closely monitoring a hijacked ship 'MV LILA NORFOLK' Indian Navy aircraft have been keeping a watch on the ship and communication has been established with the crew," officials said.

According to the officials, the Indian Navy warship INS Chennai has already been deployed and is advancing towards the hijacked vessel to tackle the situation.

Moreover, an Indian Navy aircraft is also keeping a vigilant watch on the hijacked ship's movements. It has been assured that communication has been successfully established with the crew.
