Israel has claimed the killing of Marwan Issa, one of the top leaders of the Palestinian independence armed group Hamas.
Marwan Issa was deputy commander of Qassam Brigade of Hamas, said Israel.
“We have checked all the intelligence. Marwan Issa was eliminated in the strike we carried out around two weeks ago,” Israel’s Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a televised statement on Tuesday, reports Al jazeera.
The Israeli military had previously said they had targeted Issa in an air strike on an underground compound in central Gaza on March 9-10.
However, the Palestinian independence organization Hamas has not yet said anything about Issa's death.
