Israeli airstrikes on Iranian consulate in Syria, 8 killed

Israel has bombed the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria. At least eight people including a commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The Israeli forces dropped these bombs from warplanes on Monday local time, reports reuters.
A reliable source in the Lebanese security forces told Reuters that the slain IRGC commander was Mohammad Reza Zahedi.
Iran's ambassador to Syria said the strike hit a consular building in the embassy compound and that his residence was on the top two floors.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says eight people were killed in the attack. They are a senior IRGC commander, two Iranian advisers and five IRGC members.
Earlier, Israel carried out another major attack on Syria last week. 53 people were killed in that attack. Among them were 38 Syrian soldiers and 7 Hezbollah fighters.
