Trump joins TikTok

Former US President Donald Trump has joined video platform TikTok. He joined the Chinese-owned platform on Saturday with a Real Donald Trump ID, reports AFP.
In 2020, Trump wanted to ban TikTok during his reign. Later, the court rejected that order. However, last March, Trump said that banning the platform is a national security risk, but it will affect a section of young users. And this will only strengthen Facebook's meta service.
Trump posted a launch video on his account, which has the address @realdonaldtrump, on Saturday night. The video showed Trump greeting fans at an Ultimate Fighting Championship fight in Newark, New Jersey.
TikTok is owned by China-based tech giant ByteDance. US President Joe Biden signed a law in April that would ban the app in the US if it is not sold before January 2025.
