Lok Sabha Election: Congress grabs record number of seats

Congress is going to win more than 100 seats in the Indian Lok Sabha Elections. The party won only 44 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and 52 seats in the 2019 elections.
Prior to that, Congress formed the government in 2009 by winning 206 seats under the leadership of United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
According to NDTV news reports, the Congress formed the ‘INDIA’ bloc in June last year to prevent the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and his party, the BJP-led NDA alliance from assuming power for a third consecutive term.
As per the counting till 10 am local time on Tuesday (June 4), BJP-led NDA won 299 seats and opposition Congress-led ‘INDIA’ bloc 220 seats.
It is appropriate to mention that 272 seats are required to form the government.
