Keir Starmer Britain’s new Prime Minister

Labor Party leader Keir Starmer has been appointed as new Prime Minister of Britain.

Britain's head of state King Charles III officially appointed him as the Prime Minister on Friday during an audience at Buckingham Palace.

The king earlier accepted the resignation of Conservative leader Rishi Sunak.

The Labor Party, led by Keir Starmer, won a landslide victory. The Conservatives lost over 250 seats. 

Meanwhile, Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak has announced his resignation following his party's defeat in the general election.  

In a speech outside Number 10 Downing Street, Sunak made the announcement on Friday. 

Sunak said he would resign as Conservative leader, but would not leave the role immediately. 

He also apologised to the British public, and wished his opponent Sir Keir Starmer success as Prime Minister.
