The protesting students and job seekers have been demonstrating and blocking the roads for several days calling for four-point demand including cancellation of the quota system in government jobs and reinstation of the circular issued by the government in 2018.
As part of this movement, the protesters will hold the ‘Bangla Blockade’ programme on Sunday (July 7) afternoon.
Earlier, the quota reform protesters announced a countrywide ‘Bangla Blockade’ programme under the banner of the ‘Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’ on Saturday (July 6) noon.
Nahid Islam, coordinator of the ‘Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’, announced the programme during a demonstration at the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka.
According to the announcement, besides the Shahbagh intersection, students will block the roads in front of all educational institutions of Bangladesh from 3:00pm.
Their four-point demands include restoration of the circular that abolished the quota system in public jobs in 2018 and abolishing quota in jobs of all grades.
