Rushanara Ali appointed under-secretary of state for housing

Bangladeshi-origin Rushanara Ali has got scope in the UK cabinet. The newly elected Labour government in UK has appointed Rushanara Ali MP as a parliamentary under-secretary of state in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Rushnara's name appeared on the list of ministers published on the UK government website on Tuesday. Rushnara Ali is the second Bangladeshi-born to join the newly elected Labour Party government in the United Kingdom.

Earlier, Tulip Siddiq, a granddaughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was appointed Britain’s City Minister, responsible for the financial services sector.

Rushanara Ali made history in 2010 as the first Bangladeshi-born British lawmaker after winning the Labour Party's nomination.
