63 missing after landslide sweeps two buses into river in Nepal

At least 63 people were missing in Nepal on Friday after a landslide triggered by heavy monsoon rains swept two buses off a highway and into a river.
A landslide on the Madan-Ashrit Highway early this morning swept two buses carrying 63 people into the Trishuli River. The incident, involving the Kathmandu-bound Angel bus and Ganpati Deluxe, occurred around 3:30 am amid heavy rainfall in the region.
Indradev Yadav, the Chief District Officer of Chitwan, said the buses were travelling along the highway when the landslide struck, pushing them off the road and into the raging river below.
Dozens of search and rescue personnel were combing the site for survivors of the accident in the central district of Chitwan,
Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ directed all government agencies to search and rescue the passengers.
