Kerala landslide death toll hits 277

The death toll has risen to 277, with over 200 injured as of Thursday morning, following a series of devastating landslides in the hilly areas near Meppadi in Kerala’s Wayanad district, reports indiaexpress.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has confirmed that 240 people remain missing, while more than 1,500 have been rescued from the affected areas. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and KC Venugopal have arrived at Kannur Airport. They are scheduled to visit relief camps and the medical college to meet with affected families.

Additionally, an all-party meeting chaired by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan will take place in the district as search and rescue operations continue, involving various agencies and the armed forces.

According to reports from Manorama, the Army has constructed a bailey bridge at Mundakkai to expedite the rescue efforts. CM Vijayan also noted that 45 relief camps have been established in Wayanad, providing shelter to more than 3,000 displaced individuals._Agencies.
