14 dead after Indian bus plunges into Nepal river

Fourteen people died and 16 were injured after a bus carrying dozens of pilgrims from India plunged into a river in Nepal on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said the bus bearing Uttar Pradesh registration number plunged into the water body while on its way to Kathmandu. It plunged into the Marsyangdi near Abu Khairani area but did not completely submerge into the swollen river.
Mohan Thapa, District Police Chief, Kaski, said rescuers have retrieved 14 bodies. 16 people have been rescued and sent to a hospital for treatment. At least 11 others are still missing.
The Nepal army, police, and the Armed Police Force are searching for them, according to officials.
Coming in the middle of the monsoon season, it was the second accident involving buses in that part of the Asian country in a month.
