US charges Iranian for plotting to kill Trump 

The United States has charged an Iranian man in connection with an alleged plot ordered by Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps to kill President-elect Donald Trump.

The United States Department of Justice unsealed criminal charges against the man on Friday.

Farhad Shakeri informed law enforcement that he was tasked on October 7, 2024, with providing a plan to kill Trump, the department said in a statement. 

It said Shakeri told law enforcement he did not intend to formulate such a plan within the time frame directed by the IRGC.

The criminal complaint filed in federal court in Manhattan on Friday said an agent with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had instructed an Afghan citizen, Farhad Shakeri, to come up with the plan in October.
