Canada lists Houthis as ‘terrorist entity’

The Canadian government has designated Yemen’s Houthis, officially known as the Ansar Allah, or Ansarullah, as a “terrorist entity”, reports al Jazeera.

“Ansarallah has contributed to unrest in the Middle East through numerous attacks targeting civilian and naval vessels on the Red Sea and other waterways, as well as those against Israel,” the government said in a statement.

“Ansarallah is also closely linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force and Hezbollah, two listed terrorist entities in Canada,” it added.

The Houthis have said their missile and drone attacks against Israel, as well as ships linked to Israel, are in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip._Agencies.
