6 killed as fire breaks out at private hospital in Tamil Nadu

At least six people, including three women and a child, have died in a massive fire at a private hospital in Tamil Nadu, India.
The incident took place in Dindigul district, the Times of India reported on Thursday night.
According to officials, the fire broke out at City Hospital, an orthopedic care hospital, at around 9pm on Thursday night. Fire from the reception area on the ground floor spread to other floors and soon engulfed the whole building. As the fire and smoke began to spread, fire department and police personnel immediately reached the spot to try to douse the fire and evacuate patients.
Hindustan Times reported that during the rescue operation, six people were found unconscious in the hospital lift. They were later rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead. They died due to smoke inhalation.
