At least 54 people were killed in a strike by Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a popular market in the city of Omdurman on Saturday.
According to a statement, the health ministry said the Saturday’s attack by the RSF in the Sabrein Market also wounded at least 158 others.
Khalid al-Aleisir, minister of culture and government spokesperson, condemned the attack, saying that the casualties included many women and children.
He also said the attack caused “widespread destruction to private and public properties.”
There was no immediate comment from the RSF.
War between the Sudanese army and RSF broke out in April 2023 over the integration of the two forces. It has killed tens of thousands of people, driven millions from their homes and plunged half of the population into hunger.
