Sri Lanka reports first coronavirus death

Sri Lanka reported the first death due to coronavirus with a 60-year old patient dying from the infection while receiving treatment.
The patient died on Saturday (March 28).
The patient, a resident of Marawila was the second Sri Lankan contracted the disease. He was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Angoda.
It has been reported that the deceased had undergone a kidney transplant and was suffering from diabetes.
According to a report of the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, the deceased was the third patient in the country and contracted the virus from the second patient who was in contact with a tour group from Italy. The deceased had close contact with 17 others.
According to the Health Promotion Bureau update at 8 pm today, there are 113 confirmed cases and 199 individuals are in hospitals while 9 have been recovered and discharged
