Countdown of Bangabandhu's birth centenary opens in Pakistan

Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad opened countdown of birth centenary celebration and Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Friday with due solemnity.
A press statement sent by Bangladesh High Commission in in Islamabad revealed the news on Saturday.
An event was organised at the chancery with the participation of all officials of the High Commission as well as guests, according to the statement.
The programme began with placing of wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by High Commissioner Tarik Ahsan and other officials of the mission.
Messages from the president and prime minister, released on the occasion, were read out by the officials then.
During discussion, High Commissioner Tarik Ahsan paid rich tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said in keeping with the inauguration of the colourful countdown programme in Dhaka by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh High Commission was holding the symbolic launch of the countdown.
A special prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of the souls of Bangabandhu and the martyrs of the liberation war as well as for continued peace, progress and prosperity of Bangladesh.
A video documentary on the Countdown and Home Coming Day was also screened.
