Malaysia for stronger ties with Bangladesh

S A Saurav, Malaysia: Md. Shameem Ahsan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia, presented his credentials on Wednesday (8 November) to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta`in Billah, King of Malaysia, at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur.

After the presentation, the High Commissioner conveyed the greetings of the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the Malaysian King.

The King also reciprocated and conveyed his best wishes to the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

While terming the existing bilateral relation as extremely cordial, Mr. Ahsan expressed optimism that relations will strengthen further in depth and dimensions in the coming days. The King expressed satisfaction for the existing excellent bilateral relations and stressed increased interaction in the fields of trade and investment, among others.
He congratulated the new envoy of Bangladesh and assured all-out support to the High Commissioner during his tenure. 

Before the commencement of the presentation ceremony, the High Commissioner was accorded a General Salute by the “Prestige Guard” of the National Palace.

Bangladesh High Commissioner expressed gratitude to Malaysia for being the first country in South East Asia for recognising the independence of Bangladesh.

He also thanked Malaysia for hosting a large number of Bangladesh nationals.

Later, the King hosted a lunch in honour of the envoys who presented credentials.

Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Bin Alamin, Secretary General Dato` Sri Amran Bin Mohamed Zin and other dignitaries were present in the ceremony.

Currently, two-way bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Malaysia is over US$ 4 billion and Malaysia is the 8th largest investor to Bangladesh.
