Polls to be held in stipulated time: CEC after meeting president

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said the national elections will be held in the stipulated time.

The CEC said this while addressing reporters after a meeting with President Mohammad Shahabuddin on Thursday (November 9).

He said that the national elections will be held in the stipulated time following the constitutional obligation. The President is informed about the overall preparation for the upcoming 12th National elections. Election Commission (EC) is ready to make elections free and fair.

Earlier, a five-member delegate led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) went to Bangabhaban to meet President Mohammad Shahabuddin ahead of the announcement of the 12th parliamentary election schedule.

EC Secretariat officials said it is customary for the commissioners to finalise election schedules after they meet the president. As part of this, EC officials visited Bangabhaban at 12:00pm.
