Vegetable prices drop slightly in Dhaka

Prices of some winter vegetables declined in the last few days in the city thanks to a surge in the supply of such produces from distant districts.
Cauliflower, cabbage, and all kinds of leafy became cheaper by Tk 5.0-20 per kilogram/bunch in the last week days.
Visiting different kitchen markets including Dhanmandi this correspondent on Friday (November 10) witnessed that the price of most of the vegetable reduced than last week. However, the price of potato, onion, rice, lentils, flour, sugar and edible oil remained unchanged.
Brinjal was selling at Tk 60 per kg, lady finger or Orka Tk50, pointed gourd Tk 55, Yardlong bean Tk60, and sponge gourd Tk50, bitter melon Tk60, green papaya Tk20, Arum-lobe Tk60, carrot Tk120, bean Tk60, green chilli Tk120 a kg at the city retails on Friday depending on their quality.
Hasan Mia, a vegetable trader in the Newmarket area said due to the good supply of winter vegetables in the market, prices have come down. Further declines are likely in the next week.
