Residents of the capital Dhaka witnessed a significant increase of vehicular movement on the last day of the straight two-day countrywide blockade of fourth round called by BNP-Jamaat and other opposition parties.
Many public and private vehicles including bus, CNG and private cars were seen plying the roads with no traffic congestion.
Long route buses were not seen plying the roads due to passenger crisis.
While visiting various spots of the capital including Kalyanpur, Shyamoli and Mirpur-1 on Monday (November 13) morning, our reporter found a visible increase in public transport vehicles.
Various modes of transport including buses, minibuses, auto-rickshaws, cargo-carrying minitrucks, motorcycles, and private cars were operating in various areas of the capital.
However, multiple buses were spotted waiting for passengers at different bus stops.
Ripon Mia, helper of Projapoti Paribahan, said, “I think the situation is more normal today than it was during last week’s blockade. People are coming out of their homes for their daily activities. I also joined my work thinking of my daily meals.”
He also said, “There are more buses on the road today. But there aren’t many passengers.”
Presence of law enforcement members was seen at almost all intersections of Dhaka.
There was also a big presence of the ruling party men at various intersections.
