Garment factories reopen in Gazipur

Garment workers have joined their factories in Konabari area of Gazipur. Workers of Tusuka Group have also started their work.

During visit on Tuesday morning, it was seen that all the factories in Konabari area have reopened and production is going on in full swing.

They have started reopening after responding to the call from Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

Meanwhile, to avoid any untoward situation, members of law enforcing agencies, including industrial police and police stations were seen to be on high alert at various important places including Bhogara, Konabari, Kashimpur and Zarun areas.

The labour ministry set the new minimum wage at Tk 12,500 as the gross salary for grade-seven workers in a 56.25-percent increase in the gross wage with a 63.41-percent rise in the basic.

Workers stared demonstration from October 23, demanding their salary hike.
