Around 450 tourists are stranded on Saint Martin's Island, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bangladesh, due to inclement weather.
Sources said the tourist could not return on Thursday (November 16) as the well-marked low over the northwest Bay and adjoining west-central Bay moved northwestwards and intensified subsequently into a depression, afterward deep depression and then depression over the North-west Bay and adjoining area.
Teknaf upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Md Adnan Chowdhury said movements of all types of water vessels will remain suspended until further notice is issued by the authority.
Mujibur Rahman, Chairman of Saint Martin's Union Parishad said around 450 tourists have been stuck in Teknaf. This situation has been created due to the low pressure in the Bay. The tourists would be sent back from the island once the weather gets normal.
