A Dhaka court granted bail to Jagannath University student Khadijatul Kubra in two separate cases filed under the Digital Security Act.
A six-member bench of the Appellate Division of the SC, headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, passed the order on Thursday (November 16).
Lawyer BM Iliach Kochi and Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua moved for the petitioner while Assistant Attorney General Saiful Alam stood for the state.
Following the order, now, she has no legal bar to walk out from jail.
Earlier, the police sued Khadija and Major (retd) Delwar Hossain in Kalabagan and New Market police stations in Dhaka under the DSA, on allegations of spreading anti-government statements and tarnishing the country’s image in 2020. The second case was filed a week after the first one, with the same allegation.
