A deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal will intensify into a cyclonic storm after Thursday midnight.
It will be named Cyclone Midhili, a name proposed by the Maldives. It is expected to hit 11 coastal districts of Bangladesh after Friday noon.
State Minister for the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Dr Enamur Rahman disclosed the information at a press briefing on Thursday.
“Guidance from various numerical models is indicating north-northeastwards movement towards the Bangladesh coast. Peak intensification is suggested up to marginal cyclone stage,” he said.
“The expected wind speed is 64 kmph gusting to 80 kmph. The weather system lay has centred around 400 km of Mongla and Payra seaports”, he said.
