Govt to buy 38 lakh MTs of fuel oil

The government will procure some 38 lakh metric tons of refined fuel oil under Direct Procurement Method (DPM) in 2024 (January to December) to meet the demand of fuel oil in the country.
The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would procure this 3.8 million metric tons of fuel oil under G to G basis.
According to the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), a proposal was approved under which the government would procure some 38 lakh metric tons of refined fuel oil under Direct Procurement Method (DPM) from January to December period of the next calendar year.
The approval came from the 27th meeting of the CCEA held recently.
Out of these 38 lakh metric tons of fuel oil, the BPC would procure 23.40 lakh metric tons of gas oil, 3.75 lakh metric tons of Jet-A 1, 2.75 lakh metric tons of mogas, 7.50 lakh metric tons of furnace oil and 60,000 metric tons of marine fuel.
