Appeal rejected, HC verdict on Jamaat’s registration upheld

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed Jamaat-e-Islami’s leave-to-appeal petition challenging the High Court verdict that declared the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party illegal.

As a result, the SC upheld the High Court’s earlier verdict that revoked Jamaat’s registration on August 1, 2013.

A six-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, passed the order on Sunday (November 19).
