Election discussion with India already done: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has claimed that the discussion about the upcoming national election with India has already been done. No political issues will be discussed in the foreign secretary-level talks between the two countries.  Various issues of mutual interest between the two countries will be discussed.

The Foreign Minister said this while talking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen is scheduled to visit India on November 23 or 24 to hold a regular bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

“Political discussion has already been done. There will be no discussion about politics there. FOC (Foreign Office Consultations) is a routine matter. Various issues of mutual interest will be discussed there”, he said.

In responding to a question about the talks between two Prime Ministers, he said, “India wants peace and stability in the region, We also want so”.

“India does not expect any undemocratic government in Bangladesh and India always expects democratic practice continues in Bangladesh”, said AK Abdul Momen.
