Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said the upcoming 12th parliament election would be rescheduled if BNP participates in the polls.
“Our commissioners have said polls may be rescheduled if BNP joins. It can’t be called as deferral of the polls. If there is a scope to accommodate the BNP, we will reschedule the election,” the CEC said at the Election Commission office on Sunday (November 26).
In response to a query, CEC Awal said the commission urged the BNP to participate in the upcoming elections not only once but also several times.
“There is time still remaining. If BNP joins, the election will be easy to conduct. We want the election be participatory,” he said.
The CEC hopes that it will be a blessing for the entire nation if the party joins.
