HC denies bail to Mirza Fakhrul

The High Court has refused to grant bail to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary-general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), in the case filed against him over vandalism at the chief justice's residence.

The HC bench of Justice Shahed Nuruddin and Justice Md Salim passed the order on Thursday (December 7).

Lawyers Joynul Abedin and Sagir Hossain Lian moved for the petitioner in the court.

Earlier on Sunday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir appealed to the High Court (HC) for bail in the case.

Police filed the case as the plaintiff at Ramna police station over the attack and vandalism in front of the Chief Justice's residence during the October 28 political rallies and following clashes.
