Writ challenging provision of death penalty in criminal law

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Ishrat Hasan has filed a writ in the High Court challenging the provision of death penalty in the criminal law of Bangladesh.

The writ has sought to know why the provision of death penalty should not be declared invalid and illegal.

The writ was filed with the relevant branch of the High Court on Thursday (December 7).

A hearing on this writ petition may be held in a bench of the High Court on December 9.
