Army to be deployed for 13 days from Dec 29

The army will likely be deployed across the country for 13 days starting December 29 on the occasion of the 12th parliamentary elections.

Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman, principal staff officer of the Armed Forces Division said this while addressing reporters at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka on Monday (December 11).

The decision came after a meeting with the Election Commission around 7:00 pm.

Waker-Uz-Zaman said the deployment of army troops would continue until January 10. More than 35,000 army personnel were deployed during the 11th parliamentary election to aid civil administration. If there is more need this time, it will be deployed accordingly.

Of course, there is always preparation. Last time, the deployment was in 388 upazilas in the country, he added.
