IMF approves 2nd tranche of loans

The Ukraine-Russia war and the coronavirus pandemic have disrupted the country's economy. The banking sector is also in crisis. In this situation, Bangladesh has secured final approval from the International Monetary Fund for the second tranche of loans.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal confirmed the matter on Tuesday night (December 12).
He said that the second tranche of $4.7 billion loan for Bangladesh was approved in the meeting of the executive board of the organization held in Washington on Tuesday.
The Finance Minister said Bangladesh will receive $682 million in this installment.
Earlier, Bangladesh received $476.27 million as the first installment from IMF in February this year.
