BNP leader Majnu, 12 others jailed

A Dhaka court sentenced 13 people, including Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP member secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnu, to two and a half years in jail in a case filed over the attack on the police at Shahjahanpur police station in the capital five years ago.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mosharraf Hossain delivered the verdict on Thursday (December 14).

Ahsan Habib Hira, Abdullah Jaman Aditya Chowdhury, Alamgir Hossain Azad, Gias Uddin Manik, Badrul Alam Sobuj, Sohag Bhuiyan, Mohammad Bhasani Chakladar, Mohammad Belal Uddin were among the convicts.

Five others were acquitted as the allegations brought against them could not be proved.

The case was filed over the attack on the police at Shahjahanpur police station in the capital in September 2018.
