Fakhrul’s bail hearing now on Jan 3

The High Court has set January 3 for the hearing on the rule issued on question of the bail of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case filed in connection with the attack on the residence of Chief Justice at Kakrail in the capital on October 28.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Salim and Justice Shahed Nuruddin set the new date for rule hearing on Sunday (December 17).
On December 7, the HC bench refused to grant Fakhrul bail but issued a rule asking the state to explain in seven days why he should not be granted bail in the case.
On November 2, lawyer Sayed Joynal Abedin Mesbah submitted a prayer to the court seeking Fakhrul’s bail in the case.
On October 29, the Detective Branch of police detained Fakhrul from his Gulshan residence.
Later, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Rashidul Alam sent him to jail, rejecting his bail prayer after he was produced before the court in the case.
Mentionable, subversive activities were carried out on the residence of Chief Justice on October 28. Following the incident, a case was filed with Ramna Police Station against 59 BNP leaders and activists including Mirza Fakhrul.
