Army deployment from Dec 29

The Election Commission (EC) has sent a letter to principal staff officer of the armed forces to deploy the army countrywide for 13 days from December 29 to January 10 ahead of the 12th parliamentary elections slated for January 7.

The letter, signed by EC Deputy Secretary Atiar Rahman, was sent on Monday (December 18)

According to the EC letter, members of the armed forces will be deployed at different nodal points and convenient places in every district, upazila and metropolitan area.

The letter said that armed forces members will be deployed in coordination with returning officers.

An executive magistrate will accompany the armed forces, the letter added.
