Shamim, Shammi at Appellate Division to get back candidacy

Awami League candidate from Faridpur-3 Shamim Haque and Awami League candidate from Barishal-4 Shammi Ahmed have filed separate applications with the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division to get back their candidacies.

They filed the applications on Tuesday (December 19) against the High Court order that upheld the Election Commission’s decision scrapping the nominations of the two Awami League candidates due to their dual citizenship.

Shah Monjurul Hoque, lawyer for the two AL candidates, confirmed the news.

Earlier, the High Court upheld the Election Commission’s decision dismissing the writs filed by them with the court to get back their candidacies.
