Shamim gets back candidacy, Shammi loses

The Chamber Court of the Appellate Division has stayed the High Court order that cancelled the candidacy of Awami League candidate from Faridpur-3 Shamim Haque.
At the same time, the court has directed the Election Commission to give Shamim an opportunity to participate in the 12th parliamentary elections slated for January 7.
Meanwhile, the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division has upheld the High Court order that dismissed the writ filed by Awami League candidate from Barishal-4 Shammi Ahmed against her candidature cancellation.
As a result of this order, Shammi Ahmed will no longer be able to contest the polls.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, the chamber court judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, passed the order on Tuesday (December 19), declaring the nomination of Shamim Haque valid.
