8kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs intelligence seized 69 gold bars weighing around eight kilograms from a passenger of Emirates Airlines flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Wednesday (December 20).

The law enforcers also detained a passenger named Rekha Parvin, for carrying the gold bars.

Sources said while searching, the customs officials found the gold bars in a handbag of the detainee at the airport. Later, six more gold bangles from her.

Farhana Begum, Assistant Director of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department confirmed the matter.
