Operation of Uttara Express halted to avert sabotage

Operation of the train ‘Uttara Express’ on Rajshahi- Parbatipur rout has been halted to avert sabotage of BNP-Jamaat.
Abdul Awal, assistant chief operating superintendent of Railway’s western zone, issued a circular in this regard on Thursday (December 21).
According to the circular, the railway authorities ordered suspending the Uttara Express from December 22 to avert hartal and blockade-related sabotage.
Railway’s Western Region General Manager Asim Kumar Talukder said, “The train runs mostly at night with few passengers. We cannot provide security for the train. It has been stopped over safety concerns. We’re doing everything necessary to make trains safe,” he said.
